Vietnam Airlines Inaugurates Direct Hà Nội–Jakarta Route
JAKARTA - Vietnam Airlines launched a new direct air route connecting Hà Nội and Jakarta at a ceremony held in Jakarta on Tuesday. This marks the second direct route between Việt Nam and Indonesia established by the airline this year, following the commencement of service between HCM City and Denpasar in June.
The launch underscores Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to expanding its presence in the Indonesian market. Trần tuấn Nghĩa, chief representative of Vietnam Airlines in Indonesia, announced the inaugural flight is scheduled for November 22, 2025.
The route will operate daily,offering convenient overnight flight times designed to maximize passengers’ time for business,tourism,and domestic travel within both countries. “Passengers will be able to make full use of daytime hours for work, sightseeing, or domestic travel – particularly beneficial for busy business travellers and tourists,” Nghĩa stated.
Vietnam airlines anticipates the new service will enhance its competitiveness within the ASEAN aviation market and cater to increasing travel demand between Việt Nam and Indonesia. Nghĩa highlighted the airline’s broader network development strategy, focusing on key markets in southeast and northeast Asia, aligning with national priorities. “Wherever Vietnamese airlines fly,there extends Việt Nam’s soft border,” he explained,referencing guidance from Party and State leaders.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia,Tạ Văn Thông,emphasized the route’s importance beyond increased air connectivity. “The opening of this new route not only marks the expansion of air connectivity between Việt Nam and Indonesia but also represents a new milestone in their partnership,” he said. He further noted the route reflects the strong trust,cooperation,and shared commitment between the two nations,both active members of ASEAN and long-standing friends.
Ambassador Thông concluded that the direct Jakarta-Hà Nội service will strengthen ties between the people of both countries, fostering business cooperation and unlocking opportunities within Indonesia’s growing market. – VNA/VNS
