ZF Friedrichshafen AG claims that ProAI, the solution they propose, is a car supercomputer. It will be presented in Munich, at the IAA Salon, in September and would then go into production. Car manufacturers, however, have to adapt and think of cars in such a way as to withstand such a thing.

The first version of the ProAI supercomputer created by ZF Friedrichshafen AG was presented in Shanghai. Now, the version for the European market is ready.
The manufacturer says that the supercomputer will be able to provide different doses of power depending on customer requirements and will be able to meet the manufacturer’s requirements for specific vehicles and their electrical architectures. It can be used as a domain, area or central controller.
“ProAI is currently the most flexible, scalable and powerful automotive supercomputer in the world,” said Oliver Briemle, head of L4 Feature Development, Domain Control and V2X. It can be used for any kind of vehicle with any level of autonomous driving, from level 2 to level 5 “, he added.
This supercomputer can perform between 20 trillion and one quadrillion steps per second, respectively 250 TOPS per unit (Tera Operations Per Second), 66% more than the previous computer, ProAI RoboThnik.
At the same time, power consumption decreases: with 1 watt, the computer performs 3 Tera operations per second, 70% less than before. Moreover, it is durable and reliable in harsh conditions, given that it will be used on vehicles.
ZF Friedrichhafen AG did not specify who is the first customer which will use the new supercomputer, but it is possible that it will be Porsche, which uses computer components from this supplier, including the new Taycan electric.
