VIDEO – Théo Curin, in “Handi Gang” on TF1: “I’ve never been fed up with my handicap”

Handi Gang is also a film about difference, whatever it may be, isn’t it?

Yes that’s it. The film is about difference in the broad sense, that’s also why I accepted it. Because I don’t want people to see me as the spokesperson for the disabled. I find it horrible to categorize people. If we form a single team, the team of different people, it’s much more fun.

Alessandra Sublet is also taking her first steps as an actress. What partner was she?

It’s been a dream fiction mom. It was a strength to start together because there was no pressure. I think that when you have a leading role and you give the line to someone who has been playing for years, it can be a little destabilizing, because you can feel like zero or a little below. There, with Alessandra, we trained together and we stuck together.

How do you go from disabled sports champion to actor? Was it a dream from the start?

It was an opportunity that presented itself to me, but yes, it was also an unattainable dream. Never in my life would I have thought of becoming an actor one day and landing a first role as a bonus on TF1. This is completely crazy ! I come from the countryside and my parents couldn’t afford to give me acting lessons. So it’s also a revenge somewhere, but above all a great pride.
