There is a wave of solidarity on the Internet following the disclosure from the Quaden Bayles video, an eight-year-old Australian boy who says he wants to die because he can’t take the bullying that is targeted at school.

Quaden, who lives in the Australian state of Queensland, was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, and suffers frombullying constant ”because of its physical aspect. Yarraka Bayle, the mother, published on social media a video in which her son cries in the car after another day of abuse at school.

“I just came to pick up my son from school and I saw an episode of bullying, I called the principal and I want people to know – parents, educators, teachers – that this is the effect that bullying there is, ”says Bayle, while showing his son crying. “Every day something happens. Another episode, another provocation, another joy ”, says the mother in the video where the boy is also heard saying that he wants someone to kill him. “Can you please educate your children, families, and friends?”, Says Yarraka Bayle.

The video, which has been viewed thousands of times in the past few days, has already given rise to hashtag #WeStandWithQuaden and several messages from celebrities who express their solidarity with the child. One came from American comedian Brad Williams, who created a page on GoFundMe (an American crowdfunding) to take the boy to Disneyland – so far, more than 300 thousand dollars (more than 276 thousand euros) have already been raised, 30 times more than the initial target value of 10 thousand dollars (about 9.2 thousand euros).

THE hashtag #StopBullying was also among the most used on Twitter this Friday. Children from around the world uploaded videos describing their own experiences, telling Quaden to “not get discouraged”. Celebrities like basketball player Enes Kanter, who currently plays for the Boston Celtics, and Australian actor Hugh Jackman also commented on the video via social media. “Quaden, you are stronger than you think. And whatever happens, you have a friend in me ”, refers the actor, asking everyone to be kinder.

At a press conference, the boy’s mother said she hoped that her son’s experiences could raise public awareness of the harmful effects that bullying has on children.
