VIDEO. Limoges: she walks her duck on a leash in the street in full confinement

A 21-year-old woman was seen walking her duck on a leash through the streets of Limoges (Haute-Vienne). A video of the ride was posted to Twitter on Monday, November 2, reports France 3 New Aquitaine.

The regional television channel contacted the owner of the animal. She tells our colleagues that she received the palmipede as a birthday present. The latter is a female of the “Indian runner” breed.

The duck, a pet like any other?

But in fact, did the young woman have the right to walk her duck during the confinement ? The bird is certainly part of the list of pets trained by the State, like the dog, the cat, the horse or the ox. But that doesn’t necessarily make the duck a pet, defined as “An animal held or intended to be kept by humans for their enjoyment”.

Or, the exceptional travel certificate confinement is clear: are part of the authorized exits, the “Short trips, within the limit of one hour per day and within a maximum radius of one kilometer around the home, linked […] to the needs of pets “.

Verbalized for walking his sheep or his rabbit

This nuance between domestic animals and pets is therefore not trivial. A man was thus fined € 135 whilehe walked his two sheep in the Loire, last March. The police had stressed that the sheep were not considered as pets.

Also note that “ new pets »Do not always allow an exit on a leash during confinement. Also last March, a couple had been fined for walking their rabbit, in Apt (Vaucluse). Regarding the Limougeaud duck, its owner tells our colleagues that while walking near the police station, the police officers would have confirmed to her that she was in her right.
