VIDEO | Lamborghini and Lotus presented their latest supercharges only on gasoline – News by sources

Lamborghini has revealed that it will be its last petrol-only V12 supercar. Although there will be more Lamborghini V12 models in the future, they will be hybrid, the Italian manufacturer announced, quoted by CNN.

Lamborghini, which has built cars with large engines for nearly 60 years, is one of the manufacturers of supercars, including Ferrari and McLaren, which will produce hybrid sports cars or all-electric models to comply with increasingly stringent emissions regulations. carbon, writes Mediafax.ro.

On Tuesday, Lotus, the British manufacturer of exotic-looking sports cars, also unveiled its latest petrol car, the Emira. All future Lotus models will be purely electric, the company said, which is owned by Chinese company Geely, which also owns Volvo, another manufacturer that plans to become fully electric.

The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimate is the latest in a series of 12-cylinder supercars starting with the 1966 Miura, considered the first modern supercar. Countach followed, which became the prototype of the Lamborghini supercar. Its body has been copied by every Lamborghini sports car since then, including the Aventador.

Lamborghini’s other sports car model, the Hurricane V10 engine, will continue as a gasoline model until 2024, said Stephan Winkelmann, executive director of Lamborghini.

Lamborghini previously announced that by the end of 2024, each model produced will be a plug-in hybrid. These cars will combine powerful batteries and electric motors with an internal combustion engine to provide the power, light weight and engine sound required by supercar buyers, Winkelmann said.

When Lotus’ latest petrol model, the Emira, goes into production next spring, it will be powered by the same Toyota V6 engine that was used in other Lotus cars, such as the Exige and Evora.

A few months later, it will be produced with a 4-cylinder engine manufactured by AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz. The AMG engine, the first to be used in a Lotus car, will be offered with a new dual-clutch automatic transmission similar to those used in racing cars.

Lotus’ next car will be the Evlja, a 1,900-horsepower all-electric supercar that will cost $ 2 million. With its enormous price and power, Evija is far from the usual Lotus products. However, Lotus also intends to produce more affordable electric sports cars and, for the first time in the brand’s history, practical models such as crossover SUVs.
