How to eat the “Big Apple” without spending too much money? If New York is certainly not the cheapest city in the world, it is the one of all possible. Visits, catering, accommodation … TF1 correspondents in the United States give you their tips in the video at the top of this article, broadcast on the occasion of the 100th of the “Week-end à” format of the JT de Anne -Claire Coudray.
Let’s start with the visits: did you know that you could admire the Statue of Liberty without paying anything? Nothing could be simpler for that: just board, as thousands of workers do every day, for the Staten Island ferry. On the outward and return journey, this free trip away from the hordes of tourists will allow you to get up close to the city’s iconic monument, while enjoying a breathtaking view of southern Manhattan. To go to the museum, know that all the major establishments in the city offer at least a free half-day per week, like the MoMa, the famous museum of modern art: out of its 3 million annual visitors, 1 in 5 takes advantage of free admission on Friday. Watch out for longer queues than usual on this day, but being able to discover Matisse’s “La danse”, Picasso’s “Les demoiselles d’Avignon” or the largest collection of Pollock in the world is well worth the wait.
And if you’re a music lover, Lincoln Center, one of the largest art centers in the United States, hosts a free jazz, classical or gospel concert once a week.
