The stage that was all about Bjorg Lambrecht turned out to be a nightmare.
A sprint in descending line should have indicated a winner, but the Dutch titan duel between Dylan Groenewegen and Fabio Jakobsen turned into a terrible spectacle.
Groenewegen started full, but felt the Dutch champion gasping in his neck in the last hectometers.
Jakobsen tried to overtake the Jumbo-Visma sprinter along his right flank, but Groenewegen closed the door little by little.
The space became smaller and smaller for Jakobsen, who tapped the crush barriers and was catapulted extremely heavy towards the finish arch. Groenewegen also slipped across the line.
Nothing is known about the severity of the injuries, but the peloton is holding its heart.
Jacob (23) was treated for a long time at the scene of the disaster. The person (jury member or photographer) who took the hit is also taken care of.
Ride winner Groenewegen has been disqualified by the organization. Jakobsen was declared the day winner, but that is of course all minor.

Our Renaat Schotte is at the finish on site. “Jakobsen was taken in an ambulance. There have been several attempts at CPR. He would have been put into an artificial coma,” says our reporter.
Jasper Philipsen was also involved in the fall: “It was a nasty fall. I just hope everyone is fine. But we don’t know anything at the moment.”
