School catering employees demonstrated in front of Hamburg City Hall on Friday for higher remuneration rates. Meals in the canteens currently cost 4.15 euros.
Because of the sharp increase in the price of food, the amount must be increased by the school authorities by at least 50 cents, according to the demand of around 60 companies.
The authority does not currently want to negotiate a higher fee. The city already supports the costs for the school meals to a considerable extent.
