Referee Saeed Hamzah used the assistant video referee technology “VAR” in the Arab Contractors and Army Advocates match, to claim a penalty kick for the hosts in the 18th week of the Egyptian Premier League.
The video technique calculated a penalty kick in the 45 + 8 minute for the Arab Contractors team, so Saif Al-Din Al-Jaziri tackled the game and scored the first goal in the match before the break.
The referee was forced to resort to “VAR” to show that there was a handball to charge a penalty to the contractors, amid objections from the military team that was demanding a penalty kick due to a similar situation.
And that time became the first in the history of the Egyptian league, during which a penalty kick is calculated through video technology that was applied for the first time in the competition yesterday, Monday, starting from the 18th round.
