VIDEO. A truck crashes into a house in Connantray: one seriously injured

It was 9 p.m. yesterday when a 44-ton truck carrying food crashed into a residential house. The 60-year-old driver of Polish origin had to be extricated from the cabin of his vehicle. Seriously injured, he was taken care of by the Samu.

Two people, between 40 and 50 years old, were in the house at the time of the incident. They weren’t hurt, miraculously, but one of them is very shocked. The house being partly collapsed – it seems that the truck maintains what remains of it – the two people had to be relocated for the night with neighbors. The mayor, present on the spot, had to take a dangerous decree.

Rescue and clearing unit

Many firefighters were mobilized. They were nearly thirty from the rescue centers of Sézanne, Fère-Champenoise, Châlons-en-Champagne, Reims, Sommesous under the command of the column chief Yann Godfroy. The Reims rescue and clearing unit was called in. The Fère-Champenoise gendarmerie was also on the scene, as was ERDF and Direst, which set up two detours because the road had to be cut off from traffic. Coming from Vitry-le-François, take Haussimont, Vassimont, Lenharrée, Normée and Fère-Champenoise. In the opposite direction, take Euvy, Gourgançon, Semoine and Mailly-le-Camp.
