The incident took place in the Langenhorn area. More than two dozen cars arrived at the scene.
The Hamburg prosecutor’s office said that one of the dead is believed to be the alleged shooter. He fired several shots at another man and then turned the gun on himself.
Police said they have completed their initial response and are now investigating the incident. Officers found two dead men on a path between two residential buildings. Both are said to have died instantly from gunshot wounds.
The shooter was 50 years old and his victim was 42 years old. The men knew each other, police said.
On March 9, at least seven people were killed in a shooting in Hamburg, Germany. At least eight people were also injured.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, a Ukrainian citizen was injured as a result of the shooting.
