Founded in 1995, the Vicarious Visions studio had been bought by Activision since 2005. At the origin of the Skylanders series, and more recently the successful Crash Bandicoot N’Sane trilogy, we learned through the GamesIndustry .biz website that the study just been absorbed by Blizzard Entertainment , in order to support the video game giant in its various future projects.
A remake of Diablo 2 on the show
Diablo keeps players waiting. Released in 2012, Diablo 3 is starting the announcement of Diablo 4 during the BlizzCon 2019 that was revealed to us in a very short time about the future of the license. Therefore, the merger of Vicarious Visions and Blizzard should be an opportunity to boost the Diablo 2 remake project, considered by many to be the best episode in the RPG franchise. According to Bloomberg, one of the projects that the reunited Activision teams are working on now would be the 2021 redesign of the cult work launched in 2000. Without taking the initiative of the project, rebooted from the poor reception of Warcraft 3 Reforged and Con The dissolution of Blizzard’s Team 1, Vicarious Visions should therefore give all its support to the project, recovered just over a year ago by Team 3, which is working in parallel on the development of the next Diablo 4 work.
At the moment, Blizzard has obviously refused to comment on the subject, its doubt for fear of spoiling some surprise announcement that will be released on the occasion of BlizzCon 2021, which will take place this year entirely online.
