After four league games without a win, VfB need another win – preferably this Sunday, in the game against Werder. Most recently, Stuttgart had to admit defeat when they suffered their eighth defeat of the season against RB Leipzig. Last week, SV Werder Bremen defeated VfL Wolfsburg 2-1. Bremen is now in the middle of the table with 24 points. No winner was determined in the first leg. The teams drew 2-2.
Evidence of the mixed home performance of VfB Stuttgart are twelve points from nine games.
Werder have not managed to give their own back line the necessary stability so far, so they have already had to concede 37 goals. The guests’ yield so far: seven wins, three draws and eight defeats.
Both teams are currently in the bottom half of the table. Coach Ole Werner’s team is in tenth place with 24 points, while VfB are in 15th place with eight points fewer. Bremen and Stuttgart haven’t shined much lately, so both have only won once in their last five games.
The signs point to a balanced game between two equal teams.
