‘Very small’ chance of crew members sinking South China Sea | Abroad

Despite the bleak outlook, the search for the missing continued on Sunday. Thirty people were on board the ship of an engineering company. Rescuers were able to rescue three crew members by helicopter on Saturday. They have been taken to hospital.

Some of the crew had probably already left the ship when it broke in two, the rescued crew members told authorities. Hong Kong deployed nine planes to search for survivors.

The rescue was hampered by bad weather. At the site where the ship was wrecked, about 300 kilometers southwest of Hong Kong, wind gusts of 144 kilometers per hour and waves up to 10 meters high were measured on Saturday.
