Lewis Hamilton after the first two free practices in Bahrain already indicated that he was not satisfied with the 2021 tires and was quite critical of Pirelli. Max Verstappen does not entirely agree with this and at Red Bull they are anyway a lot more nuanced in their opinion about the new tires.
After training in Bahrain, Hamilton wondered out loud what was going on at Pirelli, as in the eyes of the seven-time world champion they have only deteriorated in recent years. Also teammate Valtteri Bottas was not convinced of the new rubber. Verstappen, however, has more patience and still keeps Pirelli a hand above its head.

” We tried some of the 2021 tires in both free practice sessions, ” the Dutchman is quoted as saying by GPBlog. ‘It is difficult to know which compound you are using exactly. In terms of grip and balance we went a bit in all directions, but that is something that Pirelli can of course still look at. That’s the whole point of these tests, ” said Verstappen.
