Venezuela wants Portuguese Government and TAP to recognize Maduro as President

“They know what the mechanisms are. Respect is the first. This is the first mechanism, that of respect. And here is a president called Nicolás Maduro. There is no other president. There is not”, Declared, on Monday, what is considered the second strongest man in Chavism.

“Let TAP ask [a Juan Guaidó] a reconsideration of the sanction, to see who the President of Venezuela is. Because, among other things, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal said that they were transporting a President. President of what? What? ”He asked. Diosdado Cabello referred to Juan Guaidó as a “dangerous worm and animal”.

The President of the Constituent Assembly ensures that the Portuguese airline “violated security standards, which meant an attack on security” in Venezuela, so suspending flights was the least Caracas could do.

The Maduro government believes that, in addition to hiding the identity of Juan Guaidó on a flight to Venezuela, TAP allowed Juan Marquez, uncle of that country’s self-proclaimed interim president, to carry “tactical pocket lanterns” that hid “substances explosive chemicals in the battery compartment ”.

TAP has already reacted to the sanction, stating that “it complies with all the legal and security requirements required”.

Diosdado Cabello advised the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, to discuss the matter with Venezuela’s counterpart, Jorge Arreaza, also arguing that the Government of Portugal should recognize Nicolás Maduro as President.

The Portuguese government has already asked for an investigation to ascertain the veracity of the charges involving the Portuguese carrier, saying it has no evidence of irregularities in the flight that carried Marquez and Guaidó.
“Stolen money”

In the same speech, the President of the Constituent Assembly referred to Portugal as a country that considers itself imperialist and that treats Venezuelans as subjects, asking that Lisbon return the “stolen money” to Caracas.

“Unless those who govern Portugal still feel they are an empire. Didn’t they have one here in Brazil? (…) Maybe they still believe that we are subjects, that we are a colony and that, as an empire, can give orders “, he considered. Guaidó has already been recognized by 50 countries, including Portugal.

The Venezuelan official took advantage of the occasion to accuse Portugal of keeping in Portuguese banks “a large part of the money stolen from Venezuela”.

“It’s sad, don’t think it’s one of the best [países] with whom we have relations. Much of the money stolen from Venezuela is in Portugal’s banks“, said Cabello, in an allusion to the blocked resources at Novo Banco, but without mentioning the name of the banking institution.

“Don’t think that they are our benefactors. No, no, no. Much of the money stolen from Venezuela is in Portugal’s banks,” he stressed.
