Venezuela rejects US sanctions against Turkey

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Wednesday rejected the interventionist actions of the United States (USA) Government against Turkey, by imposing sanctions that violate International Law.

“Venezuela rejects and condemns the new Unilateral Coercive Measures announced by the dying US government against the sister Republic of Turkey. It is a frank violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations, ”said the Venezuelan Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza on his Twitter account.

The most recent sanctions by the US government, led by Donald Trump, against Turkey were earlier described by Turkish President Recep Tayyip as a flagrant attack on the sovereignty of his country.

The president pointed out that the real objective of his ally in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is to stop Turkish advances in the defense industry.

On Monday, December 14, the US announced the imposition of new coercive measures against Turkey for the purchase of the S-400 anti-aircraft defense system from Russia.

These sanctions dictate the prohibition of all licenses and export authorizations to the Presidency of Defense Industries and the freezing of assets and the restriction of the visa to Ismail Demir, president of that entity, and other executives.
