He highlighted that it is important to support the affected families before pursuing justice. Gandhi represents the constituency of Pilibhit in the Indian parliament.

The MP expressed that the three-train accident in Odisha’s Balasore deeply saddened him, and called on everyone to support affected families during this tough time. In a tweet in Hindi, he requested all fellow MPs to join him in contributing a part of their salaries towards the families. Gandhi emphasized that families should be given support first, followed by justice.

The collision between three trains in Balasore on Friday evening resulted in 261 fatalities and over 900 people sustaining injuries. The accident occurred due to some coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express derailing and colliding with a goods train on the adjacent tracks, causing the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express to collide with the derailed coaches of the Coromandel Express.

The Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for those who have been seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for those who sustained minor injuries in the accident. He has also declared a high-level committee to investigate the train accident. The rescue operation has been concluded, and the focus is now on restoration work.

Gandhi’s call for MPs to support affected families in the form of monetary contributions comes from a place of compassion, and it highlights that togetherness and support are essential during times of crisis. The major train collision in Balasore has rocked the nation, and it is important for individuals, institutions and authorities to extend empathy and support towards the affected families. The incident is a tragic reminder of the need for greater safety measures in Indian Railways, which has been plagued by several accidents in recent years.

Many have commended his move, calling it an example of good leadership and empathetic behavior. Gandhi’s actions highlight the importance of unity and collective support in times of need, and their significance in rebuilding and uplifting communities that have been affected by unprecedented crisis.

In conclusion, Varun Gandhi’s appeal to his fellow MPs sets a precedent of empathy and compassionate leadership. It encourages public officials to support and aid those affected during times of adversity.
