The Fourth Court of Instruction of the National District on Thursday ordered the release of Marisol Franco, wife of César Emilio Peralta (César “El Abusador”), involved in the network of money laundering of his partner.
Judge Yanibel Rivas varied the measure of coercion of pretrial detention for house arrest.
Franco is serving preventive detention at the Najayo-Mujeres Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
The judge’s argument for imposing imprisonment on him was that his life was in danger and that he could not justify the purchase of a 700 thousand peso watch.
The Public Ministry maintains that the defendant acquired movable and immovable property that exceeds RD $ 25 million and that includes an apartment in the Kevany tower, valued at RD $ 16 million and a Mercedes-Benz vehicle model S-500, valued at approximately US $ 120 thousand, as well as an 18-carat Hublot watch, valued at RD $ 750 thousand, among other luxury items.
César “El Abusador” is imprisoned in Colombia and the process for his extradition to the United States has already begun.
