Imperatriz Launches Joint Effort to Address Varicose vein Treatment Demand
The city of Imperatriz is bolstering access to vascular surgery through a collaborative initiative between local health services. A joint effort, spearheaded by the municipal secretary of health, Flamarion Amaral, and the General Medical Clinic of Simões, aims to reduce wait times and provide specialized care for patients suffering from varicose veins and related complications.
The program will accommodate both returning patients and new cases. Registered patients will be seen alongside a daily influx of 90 new patients, increasing to 106 on Fridays, all served on a first-come, first-served basis. To streamline the process, separate lines will be established for returning patients and those seeking initial consultations.
All patients attending the clinics are required to present a photo ID, their National Card of the Unified Health System (SUS), and proof of residence.
“This joint effort is another proof of our commitment to ensure that each patient has complete and quality monitoring,” stated Flamarion Amaral. “Post-surgery return is fundamental for recovery and for us to evaluate each case wiht attention. In addition, free demands allow new patients to also have access to specialized care. It is a large effort of the entire team to offer health with duty and results to the empress.”
This initiative builds upon the success of a previous joint effort, which municipal management deemed a positive step towards improving healthcare access. The program addresses a growing demand for specialized vascular surgery services, originating from referrals from basic health units and other components of the healthcare network.
Varicose veins can cause pain, swelling, and possibly lead to serious conditions like thrombosis and venous ulcers. The initiative aims to provide timely and effective treatment, improving the quality of life for residents.
Ananda Santos, director of the Center for Medical Specialties of Empress (CEMI), highlighted the significance of the program. “The joint effort of varicose veins represents a major advance for the public health of Empress. It is an action that goes far beyond medical treatment,is a gesture of care, welcoming and respect for the population. For patients, it means a relief of pain, improved quality of life and the resumption of activities that were often limited by the municipality. The demonstration of the commitment to health promotion, reducing waiting lines and strengthening specialized attention is a joint work that transforms realities.”
