President Jovenel Moïse handed over 1,500 admission certificates to the scholarship program to 1,500 young people at the National Palace on Thursday, January 21, 2021. This program is initiated by the Haitian State through the National Fund of ‘Education (FNE) for an amount of 400 million gourdes over four years.

Port-au-Prince, January 21, 2021.- The President of the Republic handed over 1,500 admission certificates to the scholarship program to 1,500 young people at the National Palace on Thursday, January 21, 2021. This program is initiated by the Haitian State through the National Education Fund (FNE).

These young people are admitted to private universities through a memorandum of understanding signed between the Haitian state and the conference of rectors and presidents of Haitian universities (CORPUAH), informed the director general of the National Deduction Fund (FNE), Joseph Frantz Nicolas .

These young people were selected through a national competition launched by the Ministry of National Education last November. An envelope of 400 million gourdes is allocated to this program during their four years of studies, informed the director general of the FNE.

The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet stressed that this initiative demonstrates the government’s desire to respond to one of the priorities in education, which is to guarantee access to education.

Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet pleads in favor of the sustainability of this program which has a national scope, prioritizing academic excellence. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Haitian government and the State University of Haiti (UEH) so that the laureates of the state exams automatically join the UEH through all the entities.

The president of the conference of rectors and presidents of Haitian universities (CORPUHA), Professor Jean Robert Charles for his part welcomed this initiative taken by the government with the objective of encouraging excellence.

The professor says he believes that through this cohort of scholarship recipients, the country will have well-trained executives in the next ten years.
