Van Gaal, who joked about winning, blamed the press for the tie

Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal spoke at the press conference after the 1-1 draw with Ecuador.
The experienced coach asked questions about the Netherlands’ mediocre football in the statement after the match, “I’m not pessimistic, we haven’t lost anything. I think this team will be successful” made the statement.

Van Gaal said everything will be different in the next match they play in the group. “They failed to show themselves today, but the next match will be different, I think. As a Dutch average, you can support your team. Right now we have 4 points and are leading. I think it’s a great situation.” He said he found their excessive criticism meaningless.

Van Gaal said he accepted that they did things wrong on the pitch as a team. “I can say that we didn’t have the ball in particular. We also made a lot of mistakes in passing.” he said.
The seasoned coach said Ecuador are tough opponents. “Ecuador played effective football. They played much more competitively than us.” made the statement.
