Botic van de Zandschulp will face Holger Rune in the first round of the US Open,a challenging draw against an opponent who has defeated him in two previous finals. The match sets a rematch after Rune won in Munich in both 2022 and 2023.

Van de Zandschulp acknowledged the physical toll of recent matches, having played six games in Winston-Salem. “It is indeed especially difficult too find the energy again to go back to such a fight,” he stated. “I played many evening games in the past week, that is having to do it. So I hope to recover enough in New York,” he added, referring to the upcoming tournament.

Currently ranked 73rd in the world, Van de Zandschulp anticipates Rune will view him as a difficult opponent as well. “But I think he will think about me that way,” Van de Zandschulp said confidently. “I know what to expect.”
