As we speak, you’re with the Netherlands, but how excited are you to come to Manchester and meet your teammates?
I don’t know anyone from the team so I really, really can’t wait to see them, meet them and play with them. The only one I know is Timothy [Fosu-Mensah], I played with him in the Ajax youth team a long time ago. I have already spoken with him and he said to me: “When are you coming ? You waited too long to come! He’s playing jokes on me, which is good. ”
What are your memories of the 2017 Europa League final between United and Ajax?
“Yes, we played against you and this time it was not our best game. Playing a final for Ajax was really special, but if you make it to the final you want to win. I think this game that we didn’t deserve to win, United was better that day. We were really disappointed, but it’s football and it happens. ”
It must have been a good experience to play this final and play a lot in the Champions League and you have gained a good experience in Europe …
“Yes, I have played a lot in the Champions League and the Europa League with Ajax and get a lot of experience from that. When you play this kind of game, you necessarily improve as a football player. ”
