New Anthology “Effetti Collaterali di Bellezza” to Benefit Cancer Patients
ROME – Journalist Valeria Ancione has curated a new anthology of short stories, “Effetti Collaterali di Bellezza” (Side Effects of Beauty), with all proceeds going to L’arcobaleno della Speranza ODV, a roman association supporting cancer patients. The collection arose from Ancione’s restorative writing course, “The art of winning the blank sheet,” offered to patients of the institution.
The anthology features eight stories born from a writing program designed to help participants overcome emotional blocks.Ancione described the course as “a huge human experience,” and the resulting stories as reflections of “what everyone carries inside.” The book isn’t focused on the hardship of illness, but rather on “the Beauty side effects with which to celebrate the gift of life.”
L’Arcobaleno della Speranza ODV provides moral, educational, and psychophysical support to cancer patients, alongside advocacy for blood, bone marrow, and umbilical cord donation, and fundraising for research. Ancione, a volunteer with the organization and a journalist for Corriere dello Sport, initiated the writing course as a means of support.
The narrator audiobooks has partnered with Ancione to publish the anthology in book, ebook, and audiobook formats, donating their services for the charitable cause. Ancione praised the publisher’s “uncalculating welcome” and “precious gesture of solidarity.”
