Valencia’s footballers left the field during the Spanish league’s match against Cádiz. The reason was an incident in the first half, when stopper Mouctar Diakhaby, according to Valencia, fell victim to racist insults. The match was interrupted for more than twenty minutes, but then finished.
After half an hour of play at 1: 1, Diakhaby got into a fight with home defender Cala after a verbal exchange of views.
The visiting team went on to the stadium after Diakhaby’s protests. According to a statement by the Valencia club, the French dark-skinned defender has fallen victim to racist insults.
“NO to racism! We are fully behind Mouctar Diakhaby. The team finally decided to continue, and the player himself, who was the victim of a racist insult, supported his teammates in returning to the field and finishing the match. You have our support, Mouctar!” said Valencia on social networks.
Diakhaby remained in the cabin and was replaced, in a half-time break Cádiz withdrew from the game and the author of the opening goal Calu. In the 88th minute, his substitute Marcos Mauro decided.
Betis Sevilla drew 1: 1 on the field of the 17th Elche. Borja Iglesias sent the favorite in the 14th minute, who also changed his third penalty of the season. Elche equalized in the 36th minute, when Pere Milla scored, but the newcomer of the competition did not add another goal and is waiting to win four matches.
