Vaksin Covid-19 RI Feat China Sudah Fase 3, What’s Next?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Research and Technology / Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (Menristek / Head of BRIN) Bambang PS Brodjonegoro is open-minded about the Covid-19 vaccine that is being developed by Indonesia with Chinese company Sinovac.

The Sinovac vaccine clinical trial in Indonesia, which is a collaboration of Biofarma and Sinovac, has now entered phase three clinical trials.

Then what else after the third phase of the test?

“Later if the Sinovac vaccine clinical trial is completed, it must be seen first whether the vaccine is effective for the people of Indonesia,” Bambang said as quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Monday (07/27/2020).

“Even if it is effective, it will be seen how effective the percentage is. So it must be told later that the person being vaccinated, may one day have to be re-vaccinated.”

According to Bambang, it will be seen further whether the Sinovac vaccine whose research and development is carried out in China (People’s Republic of China – China) matches the virus that is transmitting in Indonesia or not.

Bambang said, currently the fastest vaccine production there are 3 groups. First Sinovac from China, AstraZeneca from England and Moderna from the US.

However, Bambang also emphasized that Indonesia also remained focused in developing the nation’s vaccine for children. Where in 2021 is expected to have mass production.

“We also maintain the independence of vaccine production for the nation’s children, because this is the domain of the Ministry of Research and Technology / BRIN. The development of an independent vaccine is currently carried out by the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology (LBM).

“It is targeted that by the middle of next year 2021, it can already be mass produced, of course, after going through clinical trials of the red and white vaccine created by the nation’s children,” Bambang concluded.
