Vaccines authorized to fragile subjects excluded from risk categories

There are cases that are not included in the list of extremely vulnerable people (thirteen categories), cases that the family doctor would like to report for further information but cannot find the channel to do so. For all, the story of a woman from Cuneo who lives with two thirds of only one lung but is nevertheless not on the list of fragile people. But there is also the story of two allergic 90-year-olds who arrived at the center and sent home without vaccine with the indication that for them the inoculation had to be performed in the hospital. For all these situations there is now an answer, an important initiative that should make life easier for those with health conditions that require more complex responses to administration.

From today there will be a working group for the medico-legal evaluation of frailty cases not included in the list of categories with vaccination priority, a team formed within the Scientific Technical Committee of the Crisis Unit. “The goal – explains the councilor for health, Luigi Genesio Icardi – is to authorize the vaccination of those people who, despite having extremely serious health conditions, do not formally belong to any of the priority categories provided by the ministry. of rather frequent cases, on which general practitioners find themselves in difficulty, because they are not supported by objective legal evidence that relieves them of responsibility in the case of any vaccinations that could be considered “arbitrary”, or outside the categories indicated by national decrees “.

From now on, all cases considered doubtful will be reported by general practitioners to the extraordinary commissioner of the Legal Legal Area of the Crisis Unit, Antonio Rinaudo, who in turn will submit them to the Group of the competent Technical Scientific Committee, called to express itself shortly on the legitimacy of the vaccination, authorizing or not its execution.

“Through the Technical Scientific Committee we intervened immediately to give the most adequate response to the pathology of the woman from Cuneo – says Rinaudo – guaranteeing an immediate vaccination that could not have taken place if it had been strictly followed the health protocol indicated by the Ministry “.

Another novelty concerns the role of pharmacists in vaccination. Yesterday the agreement between the Region and the representatives of Federfarma, Massimo Mana, and of Assofarm, Mario Corrado, was closed to start vaccination with Pfizer and Moderna and not only with AstraZeneca: “We have established the path that will allow pharmacists also administer non-viral RNA vector vaccines as soon as they have completed the training course planned at national level “. Obviously, Icardi points out” the essential condition is that there is certainty of the arrival of the necessary vaccine doses. “In these days it is AstraZeneca that is in short supply: there are many doctors who have to slow down when they could speed up by quickly completing the inoculation of the over 60s in their studies. 68,000 doses of AstraZeneca are now in stock.
