Vaccine developed in China will cost 40 times more than Oxford vaccine – Coronavirus

Tests for the covid-19 vaccine are in the final stretch for five companies, in a race against time to find a solution to the pandemic. Although the objective is the same, the price range of vaccines fluctuates widely among the entities that are developing them.

While the vaccine pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, developed in partnership with the University of Oxford (which Portugal will receive), should cost three euros, the one being produced by China could cost 40 times more, according to the The Economist.

The Spanish newspaper said that the price of the vaccine being developed by Chinese Sinopharm will be around 120 euros. The Government said, on Thursday, that Portugal will have 6.9 million doses of vaccines against covid-19, in an investment of 20 million euros. Vaccination will be “progressive, universal and free”, said Prime Minister António Costa.

The vaccine being developed by Pfizer and Biontech, in an agreement signed with the US government, is expected to be around 17 euros. The two entities revealed on Friday that their vaccine will undergo regulatory assessment in October, according to Bloomberg.

On the other hand, the solution of biotechnology company North American company will cost 31 euros, further advances the Spanish newspaper El Economista. In the case of GlaxoSmithKline and from Sanofi, the value will be 10 euros.
