Liguria. “E’ necessario mettere in sicurezza entro l’estate, tutte le persone con più di 70 anni e chi soffre di problemi di salute che li rendano particolarmente fragili di fronte a SarsCoV-2 (obesi, immunodepressi, nefropatici, trapiantati, cardiopatici, malati respiratori, disabili)”.
Questo il “piano B” proposto da Matteo Bassetti, primario della clinica di malattie infettive dell’ospedale San Martino di Genova e da pochi giorni coordinatore del nuovo dipartimento interaziendale regionale di malattie infettive, in un lungo post su Facebook dove analizza “la macchina” nazionale della vaccinazione, evidenziando alcuni passaggi che, secondo lui, potrebbero essere migliorati.
Infatti, il piano previsto, “il piano A”, “sarebbe quello di vaccinare almeno il 65-70% della popolazione con più di 16 anni entro l’autunno, che vorrebbe dire avere a disposizione circa 70-80 milioni di dosi di vaccino (o anche di più) con almeno 250,000 dosi al giorno. Spero che si possa riuscire – scrive – ma ho qualche dubbio sulle forniture e sulla nostra potenza di fuoco”.

Ma non solo: secondo il professore “Si dovrebbe evitare di centralizzare l’organizzazione delle vaccinazioni con una struttura unica che compra le siringhe e assume i medici, gli infermieri e gli assistenti sanitari. La struttura unica dovrebbe servire per gestire le forniture, i flussi dei vaccini e dare le linee di indirizzo nazionali del Ministero della Salute per come svolgere la campagna vaccinale. Per la parte pratica si dovrebbe lavorare su ciò che esiste già, coinvolgendo nelle vaccinazioni, con accordi regionali, oltre agli ospedali e le RSA (già coinvolti), le farmacie, i medici di medicina generale, i laboratori privati, usando anche le caserme e i medici militari e affidando alle Regioni la gestione dell’eventuale personale in più che dovrebbe arrivare. Potrebbero essere coinvolti anche i medici del lavoro, i medici di bordo, oltre ai dentisti e pediatri.
Insomma, in questa fase sarebbe necessario “affidarci di più a a chi è sul territorio – spiega Bassetti – in un momento come questo sono convinto che tutti farebbero, se adeguatamente coinvolti, la loro parte”. In altre parole la via migliore sarebbe quella di semplificare il più possibile queste procedure: “La gente vuole vaccinarsi. Sa che è l’unica via di uscita per tornare ad una vita normale. Rendiamo facile l’accesso ai vaccini in tutta Italia e avremo vinto”.

But not only: according to the professor, “We should avoid centralizing the organization of vaccinations with a single structure that buys syringes and hires doctors, nurses and health assistants. The single structure should serve to manage the supplies, the vaccine flows and give the national guidelines of the Ministry of Health for how to carry out the vaccination campaign. For the practical part, we should work on what already exists, involving in vaccinations, with regional agreements, in addition to hospitals and RSAs (already involved), pharmacies, general practitioners, private laboratories, also using barracks and military doctors and entrusting the management of any additional personnel that should arrive to the Regions. Occupational doctors, on-board doctors, as well as dentists and pediatricians could also be involved.
In short, at this stage it would be necessary “to rely more on those in the area – explains Bassetti – in a moment like this I am convinced that everyone would do their part, if properly involved”. In other words, the best way would be to simplify these procedures as much as possible: “People want to get vaccinated. He knows it is the only way out to return to a normal life. Let’s make it easy to access vaccines throughout Italy and we will have won ”.
