– The biggest problem for us is still smaller than expected deliveries of vaccines. We could have many more people vaccinated each week. Additionally, our actions are complicated by untimely deliveries and differences in terms of schedules – said Kuczmierowski.

– We hope that the situation will change significantly in the second quarter. At the same time, we have high hopes for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which should soon be adopted by the EMA (European Medicines Agency – ed.) – he added.

What is vaccinated in Poland?

In Poland, three vaccines against COVID-19 are administered, which have been approved by the European Medicines Agency, have received the approval of the European Commission and have been approved for use in the EU. These are preparations of the following companies: Pfizer / BioNTech (a preparation called Comirnaty), Moderna and AstraZeneca. They are all given in two doses.

The first two vaccines rely on mRNA technology. Comirnates must be stored and transported at a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius, the substance Moderna – minus 25-15 degrees Celsius. Once removed from the freezer, they can be stored for one month (Moderna) or five days (Comirnaty) at 2-8 degrees Celsius.

AstraZeneki is a vector vaccine. It was allowed on the EU market at the end of January. The unopened vial can be stored for 6 months at 2-8 degrees Celsius.
