Vaccination intention: who would get booster doses – Sectors – Economy

The specter of inflation, which is already at 5.26 percent and threatens to stay on the rise for longer, is one of the reasons why Colombians have less confidence than a month ago.

In November, the Consumer Confidence Indicator (ICC) that measures the Dane was at 37.6 percent, which represents a fall of 0.9 points compared to the data registered in October and is located at September levels.

“Although we continue to see a year-on-year increase, we are seeing a drop in confidence. This may be associated with the much more uncertain outlook generated by the country’s inflationary environment, ”said the director of the statistical entity, Juan Daniel Oviedo, at the results press conference.

By sex, men (38.4 percent) were more confident than women (37.1 percent).

And by cities, those that registered the highest consumer confidence level between September and November they were Cúcuta and its metropolitan area, with an index of 47.0 percent; followed by Ibagué, with 44.5 percent; and from Cali, with 44.1 percent.

On the contrary, those with the lowest confidence indicator at the moment are Popayán (32.7 percent), followed by Barranquilla (32.8 percent) and Bogotá (33.0 percent).

Greater pessimism

Specifically, when asking for the economic situation of the country, 49.8 percent of the people surveyed confirmed that they feel worse than the one experienced in the same month of the previous year. In the same way, 34.7 percent predicted that it will be the same in twelve months and 24.8 percent said that it will be even worse.

“Households today are less optimistic about what is going to happen in the next 12 months than they were a year ago, when we came out of the first peak of the pandemic,” said Oviedo.

On the other hand, 65.8 percent of the heads of household said that in November they had no greater possibilities of buying items such as clothes, shoes or food, among others, compared to the economic situation of 12 months ago.

In addition, 76.6 percent said that they do not have the possibility of saving part of their income and 86.4 that they will not have money available in the next 12 months to go on vacation.

Vaccination intention

The Social Pulse Survey prepared by the Dane It also has a section where people’s intention to vaccinate is measured. In November, 6.1 percent of the heads of households in the 23 cities and metropolitan areas were interested in applying the vaccine against covid-19, 4.7 percent were not interested and 89 , 2 percent have already received the vaccine.

When asking for how many doses of the coronavirus vaccine has already been applied, in the 23 cities and metropolitan areas, 12.0% have applied one dose, while 68.2% have applied two doses.

Additionally, 88.3 percent of the heads of households would be willing to apply an additional booster (third dose), of which 91.0 percent would be 55 years or older.

On the other hand, 79.3 percent of those surveyed answered that they had not yet been infected with covid-19, while 20.4 percent said that they had already been infected and recovered and 0.3 percent answered that is currently.
