Again and again registered vaccinees fail to keep their appointments. Centers have to reorganize.

More and more people who have been vaccinated do not appear on the agreed date. Often one can only speculate about the reasons. The vaccination centers react differently.

In Frankfurt In the past four days, between 25 and 40 percent of the booked vaccination appointments with the active ingredient from Astrazeneca did not take place in the vaccination center in the festival hall. The health department will inform you of this on request. Only in the rarest of cases did people cancel in advance that most of them would simply not come. It is noticeable that appointments with the Astrazeneca remedy are significantly more often missed than those with other vaccines.

There is still no need for a waiting list in Frankfurt, as the vaccine is only prepared as needed and vaccine doses are only left in exceptional cases. However, the health department and the German Red Cross in Frankfurt are currently working on a waiting list for remaining doses. Persons registered there would then be informed at short notice as soon as a vaccine dose was available. In this way, others could benefit if people fail to keep their appointments.

In Wiesbaden the leftover vaccine is only given to people on an emergency list. City spokesman Ralf Munser said that only police officers, rescue workers and medical staff were listed on it. Other citizens cannot register. In the vaccination center of the state capital, 25 percent of the people who should receive Astrazeneca stay away from their vaccination appointment, 95 percent of which do not cancel the appointment. 1070 men and women were vaccinated there on Monday. Since the start of the vaccination, the number has been 63,600.

In Offenbach the city is currently preparing a vaccine exchange. People in the first and second prioritization group should be able to register there. According to city spokesman Fabian El Cheikh, there was already a jumping list for “members of the critical infrastructure”; if there was a dose left in the evening, “it could be vaccinated to these people”.

So far, one has been obliged to set the vacated vaccination dates again in the country’s system, says El Cheikh. At the weekend, the state approved the municipalities for their own award. “We are almost ready to go, but we still have to clarify a few technical details before we can start.”

In the Offenbach district The team at the vaccination center in Heusenstamm will contact people who already have a vaccination appointment if an appointment is canceled and will bring them forward. The slots that then become free are reported to the country, which re-assigns the appointments. The number of cancellations has so far been “very manageable,” says district spokeswoman Sandra Klauß. “No vaccination doses had to be disposed of yet.”

Also in Darmstadt and in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district We are now creating replacement lists for people over the age of 70 so that canceled appointments can be reassigned quickly and easily. The Main-Taunus-Kreis set up an online platform at the end of March to quickly vaccinate leftover corona vaccines to replacement candidates. Registered interested parties are offered an appointment via SMS via the “vaccination bridge” system. According to the information, the target group are candidates from priority groups one and two. The list of candidates for successors is initially limited to 500. If someone registers when the list is already full, he will receive a message to that effect.
