EDINBURG, Texas – the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) football team defeated Houston Christian University 27-7 on Saturday, securing their first Southland Conference home opener win.
The victory improves UTRGV’s overall record to 5-1 and their conference record to 1-1. the vaqueros forced two fumbles, recovered by graduate student spencer Rich, who also led the team with eight tackles. Alijah Prosser and Nicholas Fernandez were credited with the forced fumbles.
UTRGV is now midway through the season and will have a bye week before resuming action on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. against No. 25 Lamar.
