Utrecht, Luxembourg and Lisbon will also be red …

From Friday 25 September at 4 p.m., the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Dutch province of Utrecht and the metropolitan area of Lisbon will also receive negative travel advice. This is evident from the amended travel advice from the FPS Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. It is no longer prohibited to travel to red zones from Friday, but it is strictly discouraged.

Since last week, the Dutch provinces of North and South Holland are red areas. Belgians who stayed there for more than 48 hours were obliged to take a corona test and quarantine when they returned. The province of Utrecht will also get the red color from Friday 4 p.m.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will also become a red zone from Friday, just like Malta and the Swiss canton of Geneva.

The Czech regions Northwest (regions Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem), Central Moravia (regions Olomouc, Zlín) and Moravia-Silesia will also receive a negative travel advice from Friday. In Austria, Länder Tirol and Vorarlberg color red.

It is also not recommended to travel to the metropolitan area of Lisbon in Portugal from Friday.

From Friday, code red no longer means that it is prohibited to travel to the area, but it is still strictly discouraged. Belgium was the only European country that completely banned travel to red zones. With the new rule, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is returning to the formulation of travel advice as it existed before the corona crisis.

Returnees from a red zone still have to undergo a mandatory corona test and quarantine. The measures for orange zones also remain in force.

The advice for the other regions can be found via diplomatie.belgium.be. Non-essential travel to countries outside the EU, the Schengen zone or the United Kingdom is still not recommended. Anyone staying abroad for more than 48 hours must fill in the Passenger Locator Form in any case.
