Jakarta

Italy ever slumped when he failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. Three years on, Italy rose and is now just one step away from becoming a champion Euro 2020.

Italy had to go through the play-offs in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers after finishing second to Spain in the group stage. In the play-offs, Italy lost 0-1 on aggregate to Sweden and certainly failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals.

The failure then resulted in the dismissal of the then Italian coach, Gian Piero Ventura. Roberto Mancini then appointed as Italy coach in May 2018.

With Mancini, The Azzurri stringing together a positive streak of unbeaten streak in the last 33 matches that started in October 2018. On the way to the final Euro 2020, Italy has always won since the group stage before being held to a 1-1 draw by Spain in the semifinals and winning on penalties.

Now, Italy is very close to winning the European Cup 2020. Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini admits that Roberto Mancini has instilled that dream since the beginning of his era in the national team.

“It’s a dream that we nurtured for three years and the coach stuck it in our heads until it came true,” Chiellini told reporters. RAI Sport.

“When he told us at the start to think about winning the Euros, we thought he was crazy, but we are there, on the verge (of winning) and only one centimeter away from the trophy.”

Italy will face England in the final of Euro 2020. Chiellini admits that he already has a way to overcome Harry Kane.

“Kane is a player I have always liked. I remember one of his first international matches in Turin and he immediately made a good impression on me. We were lucky enough to have played against Tottenham, so I know him well,” said Chiellini.

Duel Italy vs England in the final Euro 2020 will be held at Wembley Stadium, London, Monday (12/7/2021) early morning WIB.
