Use the AmeriCar.de meeting calendar: Attention: Fake events on Facebook! – News – AmeriCar

Last year we noticed certain “events” on Facebook. We know that the companies involved often create their own events, such as exhibitors at trade fairs. This is sometimes confusing, but not as bad as if someone copies the official event and then clicks on many participants there on “I’ll take part”.

The problem with these fake events is that the participants do not receive any first hand information from the real organizer, for example if the date is changed or the meeting is canceled.

Beware of phishing trap!

In addition, the supposed organizers often announce a live stream of the event, the link then follows on the day of the event. What sounds like great service at first glance is a trap! Because the link in the fake event does not lead to a live stream but the click leads to a phishing, spam or “what do I know for a” trap (see link here).

The bold thing is that these fake organizers even invite the real organizers as co-organizers on Facebook! And that Facebook does NOT react to reports of fake events!

New trend: online events

What is new this year is that these fake organizers such as Online-Events or Events-Hub Create “online events” of the real events. But if you think the real event will definitely be canceled (due to Corona, for example), you have fallen into the trap of the same.

Please always pay attention to the name of the organizer (and his few likes) of the respective Facebook event before you click on the “Interested” or “I’ll take part” button!

And it’s best to take a look at the here AmeriCar.de calendar after meeting dates, because in contrast to Facebook, appointment entries are editorially checked and maintained!

P.S.:

Please report such events on Facebook as “fake event” and then “imitation of an event”. This is done using the button with the three dots next to Share (desktop version)
