USD Coyotes Fall in FCS Poll After Overtime Win

VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota football team has entered the Stats perform FCS Top 25 poll at No. 20 following it’s first victory of the season, as released monday. The Coyotes (1-1) debuted in the rankings after a 28-25 win over Indiana state on September 9th.

South Dakota’s inclusion in the Top 25 signifies a positive step for the program under head coach Joe Kasper, marking their first appearance in the poll since September 2018. This ranking impacts recruiting visibility, game scheduling opportunities, and overall program prestige within the FCS landscape. The Coyotes will aim to build on this momentum as they continue their season, facing Drake this weekend.

The Stats Perform poll ranks teams based on voting from a national media panel. South Dakota received 19 points in the poll. Montana remains at No. 1, followed by Sacramento State at No. 2 and Idaho at no. 3. youngstown State, receiving 47 votes, is among the teams listed as receiving votes.

South Dakota is back at home this weekend to host Drake. Rival South Dakota State is on a bye week and will return to action against Mercyhurst on September 27th.
