USA-Sharper than expected decline in jobless claims, to 200,000 – 06/02/2022 at 14:47

June 2 (Reuters) – Jobless claims fell more than expected in the United States last week to 200,000 from a revised 211,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

Economists expected an average of 210,000 jobless claims during the week to May 28.

Registrations for the week to May 21 have been revised up slightly from an initial estimate of 210,000.

The four-week moving average stands at 206,500 against 207,000 (revised) the previous week.

The number of people regularly receiving benefits rose to 1.309 million during the week to May 21 (last week for which these figures are available) against 1.343 million the previous week.
