USA. Biden says substitution in Supreme Court before elections is “exercise of brutal power”

On Saturday, Biden had already argued that he should be the next President of the United States, elected on November 3, to choose the replacement or replacement for the vacancy left by Ginsburg, who died on Friday in the Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump’s desire to replace the judge before the November 3 elections is “an exercise in brutal political power,” said Joe Biden, speaking in Philadelphia.

“It is a question of power. Quite simply, ”added Joe Biden.

“If President Trump insists on giving a name, the Senate should not act before the Americans can choose their next President and their next Congress,” continued Barack Obama’s former vice president, who leads national polls for the race to the White House.

In a harsh tone, Joe Biden also criticized the Senate Republican majority leader, Mitch McConnell, after he announced “at the time of the death announcement” of “RBG”, as Ruth Bader Ginsburg was known, who would organize a vote for its replacement and reinforce conservatism in the Supreme Court.

The Republican leader had refused the hearing of a Supreme Court nominee in 2016, appointed by then Democratic President Barack Obama, arguing that it was an election year, “and many Republican senators agreed,” he added.

“They can’t change their path four years later, just because it serves their interests,” criticized Biden.

“I am not naive, I am not talking to President Trump”, nor to Mitch McConnell, but “to a handful of Republican senators” who “really know what is good for their country,” he said.

“Respect your constitutional obligations, follow your conscience”, he appealed.

According to the US Constitution, the President appoints lifetime judges to the Supreme Court and the Senate is responsible for confirming his choice.

The Republican Party has 53 of the 100 elected, but two moderate Republican senators have already announced that they do not intend to vote before the election, which complicates the equation for Donald Trump.

Following the death of Ginsburg, the highest judicial body in the United States has eight judges: three progressive and five conservative.
