US: Rise in demand for Dutch abortion pills after Roe vs Wade ruling

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Demand for a Dutch service offering abortion pills has more than quadrupled after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Roe v Wade judgment, a women’s rights activist said on Thursday.

More than 4,000 requests for help have been registered via the Access Aid website, which offers remote consultations and sells medicines, doctor Rebecca Gomperts said in an interview with Reuters.

“After the Supreme Court’s decision, we saw an incredible increase in the number of visitors to websites, but also requests for help,” she said.

“Medicines (for abortion) will be available. The problem is that it will be more difficult for women to find the services”, added the doctor.

The pills are sent by an Indian laboratory and the consultations are given by European doctors.
