The US authorities are concerned about the launch of a rocket with research equipment into space by Iran. This is stated in a statement by a spokesman for the US State Department. Interfax-Ukraine Friday, December 31st.

“The United States remains concerned about Iran’s development of space launch vehicles, raising significant concerns about the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” the statement said.

It is also indicated that the United States still intends to achieve the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program.

On the eve of the Iranian authorities announced the launch of a rocket with research equipment into space. It was argued that it was a light-class launch vehicle Simurg, whose task was to deliver three research vehicles into space. At the same time, it is currently unclear whether these vehicles were successfully put into orbit.

The launch of the rocket into space took place against the backdrop of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue taking place in Vienna. Now the negotiators have taken a break due to the New Year holidays. Talks are expected to resume on January 3.

Earlier, the US said that Iranian missiles pose a much more serious threatthan his nuclear program. This opinion was expressed by the head of the US Central Command, General Frank Mackenzie.

According to US intelligence, Iran has thousands of ballistic missiles capable of reaching India, China, Russia, Israel, Greece and elsewhere in Europe.
