US Presidential: Hillary Clinton, great …

Hillary Clinton, the unsuccessful 2016 presidential candidate against Donald Trump, said on Wednesday that she was part of the electoral college that will elect the winner of the poll on Tuesday night in New York State.

“I’m a (big) voter in New York,” she said on SiriusXM radio. “I’m sure I’ll vote for Joe and Kamala in New York and it’s very exciting,” she added of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris.

29 major voters

The state of New York, a democratic stronghold, has 29 major voters among the 538 who will officially elect the American president on December 14 (following the vote of the citizens of their state on November 3).

For the most part elected and local officials of their parties, their names do not appear on the ballot papers and they are overwhelmingly unknown to the general public.

The number of large voters more important than the popular vote

In each state, the number of large voters is calculated by adding the number of elected representatives to the House of Representatives (which varies according to the size of the state) to the number of senators (two for each state).

To win the presidential election, a one-round indirect universal suffrage, it is necessary to reach the threshold of 270 electors, regardless of the result of the popular vote.

In 2016, Donald Trump had garnered nearly three million fewer votes than Clinton, but won in a handful of key states that had brought him a majority in the Electoral College.
