US Plans to Provide Security Assistance to Ukraine Could Be Dangerous

MOSCOWRussia say plan United States of America (USA) providing security assistance to Ukraine can be dangerous. US President Joe Biden offered to offer Kiev $60 million in security assistance during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Washington.

Moscow says the US plan to provide military assistance to Kiev could result in unexpected actions by Ukraine, such as efforts to resolve the crisis in the country’s southeast by force.

“We have been paying close attention to plans for US military assistance to Ukraine,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement. Also read: Russia: Ukraine May Have the Same Fate as Afghanistan

“We think it may be the reason for unexpected actions by Ukraine such as the attempt to resolve the inter-Ukrainian conflict in the southeast (of the country) by force. This is very dangerous,” he continued.

Peskov also expressed concern that the US had not said a word about the Minsk agreement to Zelensky.

“We have not seen or heard of Washington’s recommendations to Zelensky on the implementation of the Minsk agreement. Not a word about it,” Peskov said. Also read: Ukrainian man caught red-handed trying to steal secret Russian weapons

He went on to say the so-called friendship against Russia was high on the agenda of the recent top-level US-Ukraine negotiations. Where, Peskov calls this a very regrettable thing,

“In general, we can say that we are certainly paying attention to the fact that the Russian issue is at the top of the agenda of the US-Ukraine negotiations. Unfortunately, most of it is in a negative context,” he said.

“Simply put, it is about the Ukraine-US friendship against Russia. So, they did not maintain friendship for themselves, but only against Russia. This causes nothing but regret,” Peskov said.
