US may send weapons and military advisers to Ukraine – CNN

US Presidential Administration Joe Biden is considering the possibility of sending additional weapons and military advisers to Ukraine. This was reported by the TV channel with reference to its sources in the American government. CNN, informs Radio Liberty.

So, according to the source, a new package of military assistance to Kiev may include anti-tank complexes “Javelin” and mortars. The US is also considering sending the Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile systems and Russian Mi-17 helicopters, which were originally intended for the Afghan army.

The White House declined to comment on this information.

According to CNN, the administration fears that such a move by Washington may be viewed by Moscow as a serious escalation of the situation.

Earlier, a number of American media reported that US intelligence considers it likely that Russia will invade Ukraine. Moscow may launch an offensive from Belarusian territory and from the annexed Crimea, according to agency sources Bloomberg… It is assumed that the invasion will involve 100 groups of one hundred thousand people. Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov believes the invasion could start in January or February 2022.

The Kremlin calls the reports of the impending invasion “stuffing” and does not exclude that this is “camouflage to cover up aggressive intentions.” The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service compared the current state of affairs around Ukraine with the situation in Georgia on the eve of the 2008 events.
