US has more than 12 million registered corona infections | NOW

The United States now has more than 12 million registered coronavirus infections, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University on Saturday. The number of recorded infections is nowhere as large worldwide as in the United States.

The increase from 11 to 12 million confirmed infections took place in six days. The country with 330 million inhabitants registers a million new cases in an increasingly shorter time.

The two other countries with the most registered infections are India (over 9 million) and Brazil (over 6 million). The actual number of infections in countries, including the Netherlands, is probably larger than the official figures show, since not everyone can or wants to be tested for the corona virus.

From the data Johns Hopkins University also shows that the United States has already recorded more than 255,000 corona-related deaths. Brazil (168,613) and India (132,726) have the most corona deaths in the world after the United States.

Health experts fear the consequences of Thanksgiving

Health experts in the United States fear that Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 will further accelerate the spread of the coronavirus in the country. On this national holiday, American families traditionally gather for dinner over several generations.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control CDC says it’s better if Americans don’t travel for Thanksgiving. “We are alarmed at the exponential increase in the number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths,” the CDC says. It turned out on Friday that not everyone adheres to this urgent advice. Some airports were very busy.
