The United States now has more than 12 million registered coronavirus infections, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University on Saturday. The number of recorded infections is nowhere as large worldwide as in the United States.
The increase from 11 to 12 million confirmed infections took place in six days. The country with 330 million inhabitants registers a million new cases in an increasingly shorter time.
The two other countries with the most registered infections are India (over 9 million) and Brazil (over 6 million). The actual number of infections in countries, including the Netherlands, is probably larger than the official figures show, since not everyone can or wants to be tested for the corona virus.
From the data Johns Hopkins University also shows that the United States has already recorded more than 255,000 corona-related deaths. Brazil (168,613) and India (132,726) have the most corona deaths in the world after the United States.
