US company invests in Moroccan robot Shama

The event is rare, university research arousing little interest from industry. An American technology company, FotaHub, Inc., chaired by an entrepreneur of Moroccan origin, Abdelghani El-Kacimi, is investing in the first Moroccan humanoid robot, Shama, developed at the University of Marrakech. First, FotaHub, Inc. provides the researcher at the origin of the project, Hajar Mousannif, one million DH in order to design a version 2.0 of Shama. A convention was signed yesterday to this effect. The collaboration will make it possible to initiate projects “aimed at accelerating the convergence between the world of connected objects and that of AI”. FotaHub, Inc. is also planning to settle in the city of innovation in Marrakech.
