US Chocolate Factory Explosion Claims Fourth Life

Tragedy has struck a chocolate factory in the United States as a fourth person has been found dead following an explosion that took place earlier this week. On Friday, an explosion at the RM Palmer chocolate factory in West Reading, Pennsylvania, shook the small town, leading to one building being destroyed and a neighboring building being severely damaged. Wayne Holben, the West Reading Borough Chief of Police, confirmed this and gave condolences to the victims’ families, stating that they would not rest until every individual has been accounted for. There is no update on the woman’s condition who was pulled alive from the rubble early on Saturday. According to Ms. Kaag, the Mayor of West Reading, she had been on the second floor and was found in a “hopeful circumstance”. Meanwhile, ten patients have been taken to Reading Hospital, with two transferred to other facilities and two admitted in good and fair conditions, respectively.

RM Palmer, the company that owns the factory, released a statement expressing their devastation at the event and their determination to reach out to employees and their families. However, due to the communication system being down, they will work with first responders and disaster recovery organizations.

State and local fire investigators continue their investigation into the cause of the explosion. Simultaneously, officials asked for continued prayers from the community and expressed hopes of getting some answers and recoveries so people can have closure.
