Latest trials for artificial hypersonic weapons United States of America (USA) is reported to have failed. Pentagon acknowledges an ‘anomaly’ that occurred during the first trial of the full system hypersonic weapon is done.
As reported CNN, Friday (1/7/2022), the US-made hypersonic weapon test was held at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii. The trial was meant to launch Common Hypersonic Glide Body on top of a two-stage missile booster.
The thrusters are designed to launch the system and accelerate it to hypersonic speeds in excess of Mach 5, where part glide body will detach and use its speed to hit the target. It was the first time the entire system was tested in the so-called test All Up Round.
The Pentagon or the US Department of Defense disclosed in a statement that an anomaly prevented the Defense Department from completing the entire test. But the Pentagon added that it was not a total failure.
“While the Department was unable to gather data on the overall profile of the planned flight, the information gathered from this event will provide important insights,” Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Commander Tim Gorman said in a statement.
Gorman did not provide additional detailed information about the shape of the anomaly that occurred or at the trial stage where the anomaly occurred.
